Taitung Hospital，Department of Health (DOH), Executive Yuan（EY）was founded in 1897, named “ Taitung Clinic ”originally. It is located at Pei-Nan Street, the suburban area of Taitung Town. In 1924, It was moved to No.38 Chung-Shan Road, Taitung Town and renamed “ Taitung Hospital, Office of the Governor” It was a small hospital with few facilities.
In 1945,Taiwan was recovered and the hospital coos taken by the previous Health Bureau, Department of Civil Affairs, Executive Office’s Government,and renamed“Taiwan Provincial Taitung Hospital”, Which was supervised by Department of Health, Taiwan provincial Government on July 1st, 1999.the rovincial was simplifies and the hospital was transferred to DOH, EY.and renamed“ Taitung Hospital, DOH, EY”.
The hospital was rebuilt at the present place in 1964 to be a Medical Service Building with four floor, which was operated on April 28, 1966.It was repaired between 1995 and 1996, Supplemented with Psychiatry Ward, Rehabilitation Building,and Physician Apartment. The Power unit and Nurse Apartment were operated in 1998.Environment design was completed in 2001. The Special Medical Service Building was operated in 2002. In 2003, the out-patient clinic of Cheng-Gong Affiliated Hospital was operated and we introduced the latest exciter laser for refractive surgery in ophthalmology. All these make our hospital the most comprehensive hospital in Taitung County to serve the widest area.
Our hospital is classified as “Local Teaching Hospital”, With 18 medical department including internal medicine, surgery. Obstetrics and Gynecology, pediatrics and so on, we can offer generalized and comprehensive medical service. There are 285 beds in our wards. We are involved in government policing to provide joint service, Family program, Service for civilians, communing medical service, medical service for the natives….and so on. These contributions were approved and awarded by the central supervising government. |
